Non-woven: from A to Z
Does the term 'non-woven' seem vaguely familiar to you - but doesn't immediately conjure up a clear picture? Think of the banners you often see at cycling competitions or other sporting events. Now you have a good idea.
There's a reason why non-woven solutions are considered an 'ultimate classic' in the trade. For years, this material has been used as a cost-effective solution for large-scale events and short-duration promotions (including in shops, companies, showrooms, car parks and chain stores). This means of communication is everywhere: banners at the entrance or on the circuit, custom-printed carpets in catering tents, red carpets, pallet wrap, shop display decoration, carpets for conventions and other events, the list goes on.
But what does 'non-woven' mean exactly?
'Non-woven' fabric, as opposed to classic textile fabrics, is not made of thread that is woven together. This material is instead made of fibres layered directly on top of each other. It is thanks to this simple technique that 'non-woven' fabric can offer such an excellent price-quality ratio. And 'non-woven' materials have another huge advantage: they can be used both inside and outside. What's more, as soon as the promotion is over, this material can be completely recycled. All these advantages add up to make non-woven materials the perfect communication solution for short-term promotions.
Cheap is one thing, but this is also a quality product
Just think of excited or unruly spectators at the crowd control barriers or hundreds of visitors walking all over your red carpet or convention carpet. In testing situations like these, your communication materials really need to be durable. 'Non-woven' material passes the quality test with flying colours. As such, it is regularly used to great effect at top events (such as the Tour de France or Werchter) and large-scale promotions. These materials can withstand not only the enthusiasm of excitable supporters and visitors, but also the wind and rain of Belgium!
Is PVC now obsolete, then?
Of course not! PVC banners also offer a number of benefits. But if you have a short-duration or one-time event planned, 'non-woven' is definitely the perfect choice. Not only because it's such good value for money, but also because of its unique characteristics.
Here’s a quick run-down of why we prefer non-woven solutions:
- It is a great value (a lot of square metres for not very much money), attention-grabbing and high quality product. When screen printing (large amounts), it's even better value
- You can use this material both inside and outside
- With non-woven banners, colours appear amazingly intense (no reflection of the sun), improving the look of your event at a stroke
- Thanks to digital printing, non-woven banners can also be printed in small quantities (starting from 1 unit)
- A 'non-woven' banner is easy to hang up (with metal or plastic eyes and/or ties)
- The fabric is available in different weights;
- 'Non-woven' banners are available both in the standard heights (i.e. rolls of 80 cm, 90 cm or 100 cm) and in custom dimensions.
Of course, we didn't invent the stuff - it's not only Wollux that is enthusiastic about non-woven solutions. And yet our creative team is constantly working to find new applications for this fantastic material. One of our latest successes is the 'carpet with double-sided tape'. This is particularly practical because the material can be affixed to all kinds of surfaces, meaning it can even be used as a background material for window displays, for (red) carpets at events or simply as a normal carpet. There are also small-scale designs available, such as personalised car headrests.
But our favourite non-woven application is the pallet wrap! How does it work? All you need is one europallet and one non-woven banner with your slogan or graphic ... and voila! Your personal 'pimped-out promo booster' is ready in no time - and for next to no money.
